Before & After Magic

My job as a photographer ( and dare I say artist?) includes so much more than just taking photos during a photo shoot. I wanted to share with y'all a little bit of my editing process to make sure that my finished images are the best they can be! Here are some of my favorite before and after transformations!

BEFORE AFTER

For this photo I really wanted it to feel like Suzan was in the middle of the ocean. Going for modern mermaid/siren kind of vibe. I removed the channel marker, leveled the horizon, and bumped up the exposure and shadows a bit. I really wish I could have gotten a few more really pulled back shots from this photo shoot, but the jetty we were one was actually quite busy with fishermen and families.

BEFORE AFTER

As you can see I did quite a bit to this carnival photo of my friend and fellow photographer, Meagan (Meagan B. Photography)! I used Photoshop to remove elements that I considered distracting in the photo. Most notably, I removed the lamppost and the man in the pink shirt from the right side of the photo. As this photo shoot was just for fun, I really didn't want to spend too much time obsessing over it, but I'm really proud of the end result. I might go back in someday and remove the man and gate on the left side to try to create more symmetry in the photo.

BEFORE AFTER

This adorable session just needed a touch of warmth and a little more light in the shadows. Sometimes minor adjustments can make the biggest difference. If you haven't seen it yet, I have a short Behind the Scenes video of this session which you can view here: https://www.lillianjeanphotography.com/blog/behind-the-scenes-video !

BEFORE AFTER

This session collaboration with fashion blogger Ashley and Horses on the Beach will always be one of my favorites. I mean... I got to ride a horse! How cool is that?

BEFORE AFTER

I brightened up this photo quite a bit because the original photo was a tad under exposed. I also brought out the rusty orange color of the little seed just a bit so that they would really pop!

I really hope that you enjoyed looking at a few of my before and after photos! Let me know in the comments if you would be interested in seeing more posts like this or if you are interested in a video showing my editing process from beginning to end!
