SESSION GUIDE

I created this guide as an introduction to me and my photography style. Choosing your family photographer is a very personal decision, and it is essential that we both feel excited about working together! As you read through this guide, I hope you feel a little spark of joy at the prospect of me capturing photos that capture your family's unique story. If my style speaks to your heart, I can't wait to work together!

Lifestyle photographers aim to capture authentic moments and connections. I do not approach a photoshoot with a long list of static poses to capture. Rather, I will take the time to guide you into genuine moments to capture genuine smiles, booming laughter, and soft affections. I am here to document the everyday moments that all add up to create the big memories you look to cherish most. For newborns specifically, I do not focus our time on wrapping your baby in intricately staged scenes with lots of props; that style of newborn photography is gorgeous, but not my specialty. Instead, I like to focus on the real connections that you are making with your newborn!

THE EXPERIENCE

Your session with me should feel more like a fun adventure and less like getting your photo taken at the DMV. One of the highest compliments that I have ever received after a session was "Wow! We actually had fun doing this!" My goal is for this to be a fun experience for everyone Think of it more as a fun family outing or field trip with an extra person (me) tagging along! BE YOURSELF

What I ask from you is that you really allow yourself to be just that...yourself. I’m not here to make judgments; I’m here to capture you at your most honest self. That’s the version of you your loved ones know and that we are looking to preserve in our session. Please, show up open. Don’t be afraid to love on your babies or your partner as if no one else was there. I want you to laugh wildly, snuggle tightly, slide your fingers affectionately through their hair, tell them with passion and purpose how much you love them, and to keep connecting with your people each and every moment. You will never have to ask “is this okay?” because if it feels natural to you and how you connect with those you are being photographed with, then it is okay with me. I’m here to calm your nerves, and I ensure even the most ‘camera shy’ individual will ease into relaxation to capture beautiful moments. Allow yourself to be in the moment as much as possible and enjoy the experience.

AUTHENTIC INTERACTION

As a lifestyle photographer, I am all about taking the time to guide you into authentic moments with your loved ones during your shoot. I will not be focusing on the “look-at-the-camera-and-say-cheese” types of images during our shoot. Truth be told, you’ll only have to look directly into the camera if prompted to do so! Of course, I'm happy to capture a couple of these posed photos throughout our session (we all know Grandma loves these for Christmas cards), but the majority of our session will be more about you and your loved ones interacting naturally. I love when families or couples take over after one simple prompt and allow their interactions to unravel honestly. Sitting back and capturing these moments and natural connections as they happen in front of my camera is my absolute favorite. Be assured, I also know when to step back in to continue to guide the session, if needed.

YOUR PHOTOS

ONLINE GALLERY
You will be emailed a link to your online gallery within three weeks of your session. While I do not edit and/or share every image from our session, I do strive to deliver all of the best photos from our time together. Each package includes a specific number of full resolution images for digital download. For example, the Keepsake package includes 35 digital images, but your gallery may contain more photos from which you can choose your 35 favorite photos for download! Additional downloads are +$10 for a single image, +$45 for five images, or +$100 for the entire gallery.

PRINTS & OTHER PRODUCTS

You can purchase prints, framed prints, canvases, customizable cards, as well as other products from the gallery. Prints and products purchased through your online gallery are shipped directly to you and are of the highest professional standards. I work directly with the printer to ensure that the quality and colors of your photos are true and superb. You are more than welcome to print your photos yourself or elsewhere, but I can not guarantee the quality of third-party printers.

BOOKING REQUIREMENTS:

Please note that your session is not officially booked until your contract is signed, and the retainer portion of your invoice is paid. I require a $150 retainer at the time of booking to secure your session date. The retainer is deducted from the total price of your package, and the remainder of your invoice is due on the day of your session.

Q & A

When is the best time to book newborn photos?

I recommend booking newborn session for when the baby is between 2-6 weeks old.

What is required to officially book you as our photographer?

When you are ready to book, I will send you a session contract and your invoice. I require a $150 retainer to be paid at the time of booking. The remainder of your invoice will be due on the day of your photoshoot.

Will you help us pick a session location or do we need to have a location in mind?

We will discuss location options during your pre-session consultation. I have a long long list of different locations around Coastal Bend that are wonderful for photoshoots and once I know more about the style/vibe that you have in mind for your session I will be happy to make suggestions! I'm also always happy to shoot in locations that are special to you, like family homes/ranches, etc.

I'm really nervous about what to wear! Can you help with outfit ideas?

Absolutely! Picking out what to wear for a photoshoot is possibly one of the most challenging aspects of getting photos taken. I am always happy to help guide you to outfits that you will feel great in and that will photograph beautifully. I usually recommend choosing your session location and then choosing your outfit based on that location. We will talk about this more during your pre-session consultation.

What if the weather is bad?
Try as I might, I won't ever be able to control the weather! As we approach the date of your photo shoot I will keep a close eye on the weather forecast. Texas weather is hard to predict and can change drastically day by day. If the weather is too severe for our session, I will email you with a list of dates/times that I am available for a reschedule. I will not make any final decisions on bad weather until 24 hours before your session. Please note that strong winds and clouds are very common in this area and will not be considered severe enough to reschedule our session. Severe weather = steady rains or winds above 35mph

What if we would like a location that is further than the 60 miles of travel included with our package?

Depending on the location in mind, I can give you a custom travel quote during our pre-session consultation!

What if I would like to purchase the Micro package, but I want it to be in a location other than Rockport?

You can upgrade the Micro package to include 60 miles of travel for +$75 (+tax).

Can we print the photos on our own?

Yes! Of course! You will receive a personal use print release with your gallery. You can print your photos at home or through third-party printers! I recommend using mpix.com, however, I am unable to guarantee the quality of prints purchased through third parties.
